Denim Jeans - To Freeze, Or Not To Freeze ?

Hey Dolls,

Some of you must be asking; 'Why in the world would you freeze your jeans?'. I don't blame you for being curious at all; if I were you, I'd probably ask the same question! Well, I bet you had no idea that freezing your denim jeans, as weird as it sounds, can actually be a good thing. Surprisingly, many people do NOT wash their denim jeans at all. Throwing your favourite pair of jeans in the freezer can benefit the longevity of raw denim, and kill bacteria as well. It is quite common for people to wear their jeans more than once before giving them a good wash. Experience shows that prolonged time between washes allows for the preservation of the colour and integrity of denim jeans. Freezing your jeans can also contribute to maintaining the jeans’ softness and pleasant smell. Bare in mind that you are not limited to just denim jeans pants; you can freeze any piece of denim clothing if you so desire. Isn't that a ‘cool’ discovery?!!

The procedure is very simple. All you need is:
-1 gallon-sized zip-loc bag
- A freezer
-The denim of your choice

All you have to do is neatly fold your denim, place it in the zip-loc bag, and seal it shut. Next, just place the bag into your freezer and go on with your day. It’s that easy. Allow the denim to freeze for 24-48 hours before naturally defrosting them. After your item has completely thawed, your denim is ready for wear!

Sounds good right? Ehhhh, I’m not too sure about that. In fact, I disagree with the elimination of traditional washes from denim care. Why? You see, this is where elements of fashion and science collide. Anyone, with a solid background in Biological Sciences knows that freezing does NOT kill ALL bacteria. Freezing does kill some types of bacteria- yes. However, the multiplication of certain bacteria is merely stunted while frozen at a temperature of 0°F or less. Once thawed, the bacteria resumes multiplication even greater than before with the new population of organisms being more adaptive to cruel freezing temperatures. This is the case for most household bacteria, as well as those present in food. There is no scientific proof that the same principles do NOT apply to denim jeans.

It is for this reason that I’d definitely freeze my jeans between wears to help keep them fresh, but I would NEVER dismiss classic washing. Whether you 'traditionally clean' or 'freeze clean' your denim - this is definitely something to think about. If you've never experimented with freezing denim jeans - GO FOR IT ! If you've never tried washing your denim jeans - GO FOR IT! If you've never thought about combining both cleaning methods...yep, you guessed it - Go FOR IT ! Trying new things is always a crap-load of fun, and the results are bound to be interesting!

**REVIEW** ~ Sigma Flat-Top Kabuki (SS197/F80)

Hey Dolls!!!

Today I am just going to give you guys a brief review on THE most awesome foundation brush EVER - yep you guessed it the Sigma SS197/F80 brush. Now, the reason for mentioning two different names for this brush is because, Sigma Makeup originally had a 'SS' naming system for all of their brushes; however, they changed their naming system a few months back. So essentially, I just want to make sure that all my readers are on the same page.
With that being said, I'mma jump right in there! So I bought this brush back in February/April of 2009 when it first came out, but only began using it in July 2010. With that being said, it is apparent that I've had PLENTY of time to really get a feel for the F80. This brush is described on Sigma's website as a 'synthetic flat-top kabuki' - which is pretty self-explanatory. They introduced the brush claiming that it is an exceptionally good brush for applying, as well as buffing in liquid foundation. Well... LET ME TELL YOU -they were NOT lying!! lol This brush is definitely amazing !
The SS197/F80 is very affordable, and retails for $16 USD. l think that this brush is quite high in quality and is indeed MAC-comparable.  The bristles/hairs are ridiculously soft! I'm not even kidding, it's bristles are soo soft and smooth you'll want to rub it on your face for just for the comfort of it lol. I haven't experienced any shedding with this brush either, which is a major plus for me since I sincerely despise that!
This flat-top kabuki brush blends liquid foundation like no other brush I've ever experienced! The end results are definitely, flawless, yet natural at the same time. I must say that it is one of my favourite brushes and I loved it soo much that I now have three back-ups (I'm a make-up junkie) .
I would also like to mention that though this is uber awesome for liquid foundation, it is definitely a versatile brush. Sometimes I use it to apply my MAC Mineralized Skin-Finish which is a powder, and it works very well with that product as well. I also tried using the side of the top of the brush  (if that makes sense) to apply contour products and it worked fairly decent as well. I think it is a staple to any makeup user, being that your face is your canvas and the foundation is the most important part!
So overall, I think that this brush is an awesome product. I am extremely happy with my purchase. It is well-designed and I love, love, LOVE it! Hope you all enjoyed this post !
