New Voice On The Block : Elle Varner

Singer/Songwriter Elle Varner is the new girl on the music scene. The video for her debut single 'Only Wanna Give It To You' featuring rising rap star J.Cole, airs tonight on BET's 106 & Park. The styling in the video is extremely fun, colourful, and just down right fierce ! Elle is an extremely talented, and beautiful young woman; her sense of style is just icing on the cake. Once she keeps her ensembles this fresh, and her music on point - she'll do great !

Bright colours and 'tribalesque' pieces are very much on trend right now, making this look quite appropriate for the fall season. Pairing this chic neon-orange blazer with the super adorable kente-patterned babydoll dress takes the look from 'cute' to 'ultra stylish'. Elle's futuristic ankle-boots add just the right amount of edge, while the crazy 'Smiley' clutch adds flair to her sassy outfit. This expression of style is surely eye-candy to the quintessential fashionista. Love, Love... LOVE IT !

Mr. West is in the building !!!

The highly anticipated Spring/Summer 2012 Dw by Kanye West line finally hit the runway in Paris last night ! Just in case you were missing out on the party; I am now personally inviting you to come see what all the buzz is about.

Grammy Award winning Rap Star Kanye West made his Debut as a Fashion Designer at this year's Paris Fashion Week. The new womenswear line 'DW', named after his mother (the late Donda West) stirred up a real buzz among popular figures in the Fashion industry, as well as Kanye's loyal fans. The audience was filled with celebrity guests such as: Ciara, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Jared Leto, and Lindsay Lohan. Popular Fashion Designers: Alexander Wang, Olivier Theyskens, Silvia Fendi, and Jeremy Scott were also spotted in the Front row of the show. 

Neutral colours were the heart of the collection with a few pops of colour like red, pink, and blue here and there. Nameplate necklaces and daring fur accessories were also characteristic of the DW runway show. Monochromatic pants, chunky sweaters, free-fitting pieces were also used to establish what I like to call an 'urban-couture' type of feel. Supermodels - Chanel Iman, Jourdan Dunn, and Karlie Kloss made sure to bring their star qualities while strutting down the runway at the DW show. Check out the pictures from the show !

It is a tad strange that fur is a part of Spring/Summer collection ...

Kanye also teamed up with luxury-shoe designer Giuseppe Zanotti to create the shoes for his show, including this extremely embellished pair of heels.

There are many mixed feelings about Kanye's newest project. Many fashion designers feel as though his line isn't good enough for the world of high fashion, especially considering that Kanye has no formal training in that area. On the contrary, others think that his debut line isn't bad for a first timer who lacks a solid background in Fashion Design. The originality factor of the collection is also raising an abundance of eyebrows throughout the industry. There seems to be a concern that the art is being lost to the different celebrities/public fashion figures who jump head first into fashion without "maintaining the true standards" of the craft. 

There were no high expectations, considering his rookie status as far as fashion designing is concerned. Some of the pieces are somewhat inappropriate for the Spring and Summer Seasons as they are a little on the heavier side. Nonetheless, appealing pieces can definitely be found in the Dw by Kanye West S/S 2012 collection.

There are so many talented artists/musicians out there that whose talents are constantly overlooked. It is for this reason that I have decided to do a mini-series that features an array of artful individuals who lack the attention they so deserve.

Today's artist is Tabi Bonney, full name: Tabiabue Bonney. Tabi Bonney is a West African artist who falls in the 'Afro-Funk' genre of music. His career began to take off, after creating quite a buzz in the Washington D.C area back in 2007. A very talented young man, Tabi Bonney has produced fresh singles such as 'The Pocket', 'Nuthin But A Hero', 'Frontin' and 'Doin It' featuring Raheem DeVaughn. Collaborations with Kidz In The Hall and Nicole Wray are also nicely tucked under Bonney's 'belt of achievements'. A knack for creative lyrical flow and a zesty persona combine to produce an insane delivery that is unmatched. Loaded with energy, culture, creativity, and raw talent his music continues to break the mold of conventional sounds. It hardly stops there - Tabi Bonney also shows his versatility by producing and directing numerous music videos for popular artists like Wale and Raheem DeVaughn.

Not only is Tabi Bonney extremely talented in the music arena, he has also taken his super-creativity into the world of fashion. His individuality and raw energy has been harnessed to create his own clothing line duly labeled 'Bonney Runway'. Funky hoodies and tees are the focal point of this limited and exclusive brand. Vibrant colours, basic shapes, and of course, various textures are incorporated into each limited edition design. Displaying phrases, words, along with Bonney Runway's logo, Bonney's design express his free spirit and the vision that is behind his amazing music. SIMPLE, YOUTHFUL, FUN, FRESH - these are only a few words that come to mind when I think of Bonney Runway. Love It!
