Happy Lips !
Hey Dolls and Gents,
It has gotten quite chilly lately, and with the cold weather comes dry skin. Although, people often give their skin extra care during this time, the lips are often neglected - no bueno ! Regardless of gender, cracked lips are very unattractive and somewhat unhealthy. Lip exfoliation is a great way to say goodbye to those terrible chapped lips, and maintain the soft/smooth lips sported in the warmer months.
There are tons of retail products on the market specifically manufactured for lip exfoliation. Reputable brands like Fresh, Smashbox, and Philosophy [amoung others] produce their own variations of Lip Exfoliants/Scrubs; these tend to range from $15 - $23 dependent on the brand, as well as the [product] size chosen for purchase. Sephora, Ulta, Macy's, and other local cosmetic/skin-care retailers all carry a variety of the aforementioned items.

Emulsion Lip Exfoliant by Smashbox - $18 USD
Sugar Lip Polish by Fresh - $22.50 USD (favourite)
Kiss Me Exfoliating Lip Scrub by Philisophy - $15 USD
However, several alternatives exist for people who don't feel the need to go out and buy a lip exfoliant. There are also natural versions that can easily be made at home. Most recipes include two elements - sugar being the main/active ingredient; it doesn't matter if the sugar is brown or white. The second element can be honey, extra virgin olive oil (evoo), or just plain water; it's all up to preference. When using honey evoo/honey, just mix in a small bowl/container until a paste is made and that's it - a simple do-it-yourself (DIY) lip scrub.
After choosing a suitable lip exfoliant, it's time for the fun part. Here's a brief step-by-step method that can be used for effective lip exfoliation.
- Dampen the lips with water from the faucet.
- Use fingertips to apply a generous amount of product to lips.
- Next, use either the fingers or a toothbrush (preferably different from the one used for daily brushing) to gently massage the lips.
- Once satisfied, rinse away the exfoliant and dead skin with water.
- Pat dry with a towel.
Cheers to smooth lips all year round - POW !

Sassy

Violent Lips
Did you know that you can make your lips say anything your heart desires ? You're probably thinking - "I can already do that", right ? But what if there's a way to make your lips scream without moving a single muscle in your body?
Most of you are probably confused right now and wondering 'What the heck is this doll talking about ?'. lol Let's not keep you in the dark anymore. Violent Lips is the answer ! What are Violent Lips ? It's actually a brand of temporary lip tattoos. Yep, lip tattoos -- most likely, half of you didn't even know that such a thing existed; but they do !
(Violent Lips packaging and Tattoo Appliques)
Presently, lip tattoos are all the rage ! These are definitely not for the faint of heart; Violent Lip tattoos surely make a HUGE fashion/beauty statement. A little off the wall - yes, but very trendy indeed ! There are so many different choices; from bold animal prints to dramatic sparkles - there's something for everyone. The possibilities are endless !
Made in America -- Violent Lips tattoos are cruelty-free, FDA-approved, and vegan-approved ! They are also safe for anyone above the age of 3 ! The tattoos are sold in sets of three and retail for $15; they can be purchased
at select Sephora stores, or online via Violent Lips and Sephora.
Here are some pictures of what the tattoos look like on !
The application process is simple. All you have to do is use the lines provided on the back of the applique' to fit the tattoo to your lips. Next, you trim away the pieces that you won't need. After that, hold the applique' against your lips and wet the tattoo on your lip with a damp sponge. Slowly peel back the paper and gently blot your lips with the same sponge. After your lips dry, you can apply a gloss if you'd like. You can also eat, drink, and even kiss with the tattoo on. However, it would be best to stay away from oily foods and warm beverages. Violent Lips Temporary Lip Tattoos are said to last about 4-8 hours depending on how you care for them, as well as your skin type. The tattoo can be easily removed by using baby oil on a cotton ball, or mineral oil followed by a makeup remover wipe.
These tattoos are super dope and would be great for Halloween (especially if you're skeptical about wearing them)! Below is a video of how to apply the product via the Violent Lip official YouTube channel in case you prefer visual instructions. Be sure to leave your comments below expressing how you feel about these lip tattoos !

Sassy

Fit Your Face
Hey Dolls,
Dressing for your shape is critical if you desire the most flattered body appearance. The same goes for your makeup! Makeup application can flatter your specific face shape when the right colours, textures, and techniques are used. You may be asking, 'How can I enhance my natural structure ? Should I be trying to lengthen, soften or round my features?' I hope to answer those questions by offering a few tips specified to four different face shapes. Below you will find quick tips that will allow you to find a look that best suits you.
Face Shape: Oval
Celebs: Eva Longoria, Kim Kardashian, Megan Fox
Attributes: Same-width forehead and lower face, longer sides
Your ideal makeup look: To cut down the length of your face a bit, apply a rosy or bronzy blush horizontally across the cheeks; be sure to define your eyes and lips.
Face Shape: Square
Attributes: Angular jawbone and hairline
Celebs: Jennifer Garner, Rachel McAdams, Rosario Dawson
Your ideal makeup look: Soften your angular features with a makeup look that's soft, feminine, and filled with dainty shimmer.
Face Shape: Round
Attributes: Forehead and lower face are the same width and prominent cheeks
Celebs: Brenda Song, Charlize Theron, Kirsten Dunst
Your ideal makeup look: Add definition to your face by applying bronzer to the forehead, jawline and cheeks; pair with smoky eyes.
Face Shape: Heart
Attributes: Wider forehead and narrow chin
Celebs: Ginnifer Goodwin, Reese Witherspoon, Tyra Banks
Your ideal makeup look: To draw focus away from your prominent chin and cheekbones, try wearing feminine, sheer and soft tones;add a nice pop of color on your mouth and cheeks to downplay the strong cheekbones.
Hope this was helpful !
XoXo,
Sassy
